This way, the strike would begin before one of the main dates for commerce, Black Friday, scheduled for November 24th. The workers' decision would be a response to Correios' refusal to resolve issues involving a collective agreement that would add R$250 to the base salary. In Tocantins, Correios employees have already approved the strike.
The state-owned company's employees are represented by the Findect federation, which describes the company's refusal as a direct insult to the workers. Furthermore, the federation also states that Correios' decision indicates a contradiction to what was proposed in collective bargaining. The company submitted as an alternative proposal that payment of the amount would take place in “steps”.
What reasons could cause a strike?
Among the employees' demands, the federation pointed out the lack of carrying out new public tenders to the Post Office. Findect also points out the imminent taxation on the R$1,500 bonus agreed in January between the company and the union, which could cause losses for workers.
However, the vote on a possible postal strike has not yet taken place. According to Reuters, the postal union in the cities of São Paulo and Bauru (SP), in addition to the states of Rio de Janeiro and Maranhão, are already discussing the matter. Therefore, until the vote takes place and the decision is not announced, the company's activities continue to operate.
