In this year's Enem, their use is still allowed, but it is no longer mandatory in many regions of the country. Competitors cannot carry any type of electronic device during the exam, such as cell phones, smartphones, tablets, calculators, smartwatches, among others. Cell phones must be turned off before the start of the race and sealed in the object holder. If the electronic device, even if sealed, emits a sound during the test, the owner will be eliminated and will lose his right to complete the test.

Other objects that should not be taken for the exam: headphones, sound, image and video recorders, glasses dark hats, headgear, non-transparent pens, ruler, correction pens, notes and clocks of any type.
