Tinder takes measures to prevent users from marketing on the platform

The Tinder application, one of the most famous dating apps in the world, announced that it is taking measures to prevent the practice of marketing within its domains.

According to announcements issued by the application, some users were identified who were basically using their Tinder profiles to “make money”.

Apparently, these people were using the information tab on social networks to spread links to products or services sold by them.

To stop this type of activity, the app removed tabs for including data from users' social networks and disabled the inclusion of outgoing links within the app.

In an excerpt from its statement, Tinder explains what cannot be done on its platform. "Advertising, promoting handles or social links to gain followers, sell things, fundraise or campaign," the snippet read.

The changes come on the heels of a series of updates to the dating app's policies, which were put into practice to, according to Tinder itself, “reinforce authenticity, respect and inclusion” in its Domains.

In addition to the ban on marketing within the app, it is also prohibited to share or publish private messages exchanged in the app's chats.

Currently, most Tinder users are young people between 18 and 25 years old, according to the app itself. Ehren Schlue, Senior Vice President of Membership Strategy at the company, explains that measures such as taken recently serve to help “educate” this youth in actions practiced within the platform.

“They are to guide younger people [the measurements] as they begin their dating journey. Tinder is using this policy update to remind and educate members about healthy dating habits — online and in real life.”

Despite the announcement, Tinder has not yet explained how it will delete the app's social media tabs. For now, the app recommends that users who see others infringing the rules of good coexistence on the platform make a report to the Service Center as soon as possible.

With the announcement, some users began to question Tinder about how it will be possible to confirm the identity of a user without the possibility of visiting other social networks of the person. Until the closing of this matter, the application had not issued any note regarding this issue.
