Why can you lose your right to drive?

The suspension of the National Driver's License (CNH) is the result of disobedience to traffic laws. For drivers, the practical result is the suspension of the right to drive. As this is a serious measure, it depends on certain requirements to happen. So, if you pass the DMV score threshold within 12 months or practice any infraction that has as punishment the automatic suspension of driving, you can have your CNH suspended.

This is the case for approximately 167,000 Brazilians, according to the Detran of Pernambuco. The punishment can last from 2 months to 1 year and varies according to the offense committed. Thus, it is important to look for the Traffic Department of your region to check if you will also have the right to drive suspended.

What to do in case of suspension of driving license?

Once your license is suspended, you automatically lose the right to drive a vehicle. The period is determined by the Department of Transit, but cannot exceed the 12-month limit. If your driver's license is suspended, participation in a recycling course promoted by the Detran is mandatory to regain your driver's license and the right to drive.

For this reason, be aware of your behavior in traffic and avoid committing some fines that lead to immediate suspension of the wallet, such as refusing to take a breathalyzer test, riding a motorcycle without a helmet and even driving at speeds above 50% allowed.

But, if you are fined by a duly identified traffic agent or by speed cameras, you can appeal through prior defense, when there is notice of the infraction at their domicile, or file an appeal in the first instance with the Administrative Board of Infraction Appeals, JARI.
