The commercial showed a white person giving a chocolate egg from the brand as a gift to a black person.
So far so good, but the focus of the video is on the hands delivering the candy, while the message “Whoever decorates Easter deserves an Easter gift” is written on the image.
Lacta is one of the brands of the company Mondelez, which is also responsible for other famous titles such as Bis, Club Social, Oreo and Tang.
When contacted by journalist Mônica Bergamo, from the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, the company admitted, in a statement, that it had made a mistake in creating the commercial.
“The brand made a mistake and the piece was removed from the air. The company will further strengthen the awareness and practice of the anti-racist agenda internally and with its suppliers”, said the note sent to the Folha journalist.
