Anvisa changes COVID-19 health rules to enter Brazil

Last Monday, the 12th, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) changed the health rules related to Covid-19 for the entry of travelers in our country. These rules were pretty strict at the height of the pandemic. In this way, it is important that travelers whether by air, land or water transport, be aware of the new requirements contained in the Interministerial Portal 678/22.

The new health control rules have made it easier for any traveler to enter the country, as it has become simpler to fulfill the necessary requirements. See what are the new general rules for entering Brazil.

  • Submit proof of complete vaccination against Covid-19;
  • Submit proof of completion of the test. It could be RT-PCR or some antigen-type test, as long as the result is negative. This test must be carried out one day before boarding.

What makes it even easier is that the traveler can choose which of the two documents he wants to present, that is, it is not necessary to be in possession of both. The chosen one must be shown, before boarding, to the airline responsible for the flight. If the trip is land, they must present it at the control point responsible for these means of transport.

New rules for the entry of children into the country:

  • Children under 12 years old do not need to present proof of vaccination or tests;
  • For children over 12, the same rules apply as for adults. In other words, it is mandatory to have proof of vaccination or a negative RT-PCR test.

Information about proof of vaccination:

The voucher must be printed or digital. They do not accept only the presentation of QR-Code.

  • The voucher must contain the name of the passenger, the commercial or manufacturer's name of the vaccine, batch number of the applied dose and the date of application of the dose;
  • Only vaccines approved by Anvisa, WHO or by the authority of the country where the traveler applied will be accepted;
  • The person must have taken the single or last dose of the primary vaccination schedule, at least 14 days before the departure date.

Remembering that these rules are applied to those who are entering Brazil. Brazilians or foreigners who are going abroad must pay attention to the rules of the country of destination. If the passenger has any questions regarding these rules, they should seek information from embassies and consulates.

Anvisa also informed that the receipts issued abroad must be presented in Portuguese, Spanish or English during arrival in Brazil.
