THIS is why flight attendants are watching you at the beginning of the trip

Flight attendants, also called stewardesses, are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers during the flight. That's why they are always keeping an eye on everything that happens.

What you may not know is that part of their work begins even before boarding. Their attributions involve reception and initial screening to detect possible risks to the trip.

looking for helpers

It's not an obligation, but flight attendants often keep an eye out for passengers who can help them in emergency situations. Usually, a passenger is chosen to help the team if necessary, and the crew checks who can help already during boarding.

This information can be useful in emergency cases, when there is not much time to plan. But we always hope it's not necessary, right?

Capable professionals

If there is no qualified passenger, any civilian will be called to help in an emergency situation. However, it is quite common for other crew members to travel as passengers, and they usually identify themselves during boarding to the onboard staff.

So the team knows they can count on someone who has similar training to them.

suspicious behavior

There's always a funny one, isn't there? Therefore, flight attendants also observe passengers to understand who can cause problems during the trip. They mainly check that the person is entering an altered state (possibly due to some licit or illicit substance) or that they are not behaving suspiciously.

These passengers are observed throughout the operation, especially if they perceive that they are acting inappropriately.

passenger health

In addition, flight attendants keep an eye on the health status of passengers. They can identify, for example, if a person has a contagious disease, such as conjunctivitis, or if they have low blood pressure and, from 2020 onwards, Covid-19. This makes it possible to understand whether the passenger will be able to continue the trip without problems.

dangerous luggage

At reception, flight attendants also screen passengers' luggage to detect items that may pose a risk. Sharp objects and electronics such as drones, whose batteries may not be allowed on the plane, are some of the items that may be prevented during reception on the plane.

If this happens, the passenger has the option to get off with the baggage to resolve the situation or drop it off at the airport and retrieve it from the lost and found.
