In 2022, the national nursing floor was approved, which establishes the payment guidelines for health professionals in the country. It establishes that the floor of a nurse is BRL 4,750; 70% for technicians and 50% for assistants. Despite the decision, nothing has yet come into force. The government explained that it is necessary to match the rules with small towns and Santas Casas. President Lula spoke on the subject.

Last Tuesday, the 14th, Lula said that what was needed for the floor, approved in 2022, to finally come into effect. According to him, it is necessary to balance the values with the smaller cities and some Santas Casas in the country. This was said during a speech at the launch event of the Minha Casa Minha Vida program, which took place in Santo Amaro.

It was approved under constitutional amendment 127, which dictates the payment guidelines for nursing professionals in the country, as well as auxiliaries, technicians and midwives. This is Law nº 14434, which was suspended by order of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), due to the risks of impact on the Union's accounts and possible cuts in employees, which would culminate in an impact on the health.
The PEC approved last year that dealt with the payment of nurses and other professionals would be financed with resources from the financial surplus of public and social funds. This amount would be destined to finance the nursing floor in the Unified Health System (SUS), in philanthropic entities, which had a minimum of 60% of SUS patients.

Several associations of hospitals and city halls issued notes informing that there would be no financial contribution to support the new salary floor. The main risk would be dismissals, reduction of staff and even closure of hospitals.
The Brazilian Federation of Hospitals, representative body of the hospital sector, asked LCA Consultores to carry out a study on the impact of the new floor. According to the result of the study, there is an indication that the floor should lead to large-scale layoffs and the closure of several small and medium-sized hospitals.
The highest incidence would be in the Northeast region.
