Two-Gender Common Noun

O two-gender common noun, also called common of two, is a kind of uniform noun. That is, one that presents only one term for both genders (male and female).

In this case, what differentiates one term from another is the article that accompanies the noun:

  • o, one (male), for example: O artist.
  • a, one (female), for example: The artist.

Another way to identify the gender of the noun of two genders is through the adjective that accompanies it, for example:

Driver has an accident on the road.

In this example, we were unable to identify whether we have a driver or a driver, since the phrase does not have a gender identification article.

Driver Argentine has an accident on the road.

After adding the adjective "Argentine" we have already identified that the driver who suffered the accident was male.
