The personal pronouns of the straight case are those that have the function of the subject or of the subject's predicative: I, you, he/she, we, you, they/they.
Examples:
Me I delivered the requisition today. (subject)
the lucky is Is it over there. (predicative)
the pronouns you and you can also have the function of vocative:
You, who knows everything, comes forward and explains.
“Ó you, who do not know of Hell, look, come and see it!!!" (Cecília Meireles)
It is the straight personal pronouns that, in the speech, indicate:
- Who speaks: first person singular (me) or plural (we)
- who do you talk to: second person singular (you) or plural (you)
- Who are you talking about?: third person singular (he, she) or plural (he, they).
These pronouns are often omitted from clauses. This is because the verbal ending already gives the indication of the person to which it refers:
(Me) I talk to everyone.
(You) Sing all day long.
(He) Used to be critical.
(We) Are we going to the theater today?
(You) Do you know what you say?
(They left?
In everyday life, the personal pronouns of the straight case are often used as a verbal complement (Penteei Is it over there today). But the cultured language does not accept this form, after all this is the function of personal pronouns of the oblique case (I combed-The today).
Sometimes the pronouns they)/they), we and you are accompanied by a preposition. In these cases, these pronouns are oblique.
Examples:
In to him the suggestion. or Give him the suggestion. (indirect object)
They said about Us? (indirect object)
