Apology is a way of defense, support or support in favor of something or someone, usually developed in the form of speech or written text.
As a rule, apologies refer to the support of ideologies, doctrines, philosophical thoughts, artistic works and so on.
Example:"The book conveyed the apology for the freedom of all human beings".
By extension, apology can be directly related to the idea of an enthusiastic and exalted defense.
Example:"The group marched fervently in apology for the legalization of marijuana".
Etymologically, the word "apology" is derived from the Greek apologies, which literally means "justification" or "defence".
Apology of Socrates
This is the title of a literary work composed by the Greek philosopher Plato, where he expresses arguments that try to defend the speech and thoughts of Socrates, who was convicted by the Court of Athens for allegedly corrupting the youth and refusing to worship the gods of the time.
According to Plato's conclusion, Socrates was unjustly sentenced to death by his judges.
The “Apology of Socrates” is part of a tetralogy of works that narrate different stages of the process of accusation made of the philosopher.
