Fear is a masculine noun in the Portuguese language, used to define the act or effect of fear, that is, the fear, fear, dread and horror of something or something.

O fear of God it is a feeling of respect and reverence practiced by the Christian doctrine, as foreseen in the book of Hebrews of the Holy Bible:
"Therefore, receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us retain grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and holy fear; for our God is a consuming fire" (Hebrews 12:28-29).For the Christian, the meaning of the fear of God is in obedience and compliance with the rules established by Him and by Christian doctrine.
Some people believe that the fear of God is related to the fear of his judgment, being condemned to eternal death or hell if they don't keep his commandments.
In the Bible there are some explicit rules about the meaning of the Fear of the Lord for Christians, among them the believer in God must:

- Be faithful to God;

"Fear and Trembling" is the title of a book by the Danish philosopher Sören Kierkegaard, published in 1843 and under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio.
