Meaning of Sarcastic (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Sarcastic is a masculine adjective that qualifies an individual who reveals sarcasm, means person ironic, satirical or mocking.

A sarcastic person is a person who uses irony in order to make fun of a situation or to insult a person in a scathing way. Sarcasm can have two distinct functions: to calm a conflicted situation or to offend someone. Not everyone can understand sarcasm, and it can even be misinterpreted, because sarcastic comments are not always meant to be taken literally.

In many situations, sarcasm can be seen as a defense mechanism. According to Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky sarcasm is the the last refuge of people of modest and chaste soul when the privacy of their soul is coercively and intrusively invaded.
