MSN is an online services portal of the Microsoft company, launched in 1995, together with the Windows 95 Operating System. MSN stands for "Microsoft Service Network", which means "Microsoft Service Network".
The MSN.com portal is different from the instant messaging program known as "MSN Messenger" or simply "Messenger". On the Internet, a portal is a site that brings together a variety of content for users.
MSN.com brings together various informational and interactive services linked to certain segments, such as: entertainment, sports, horoscope, games, news, videos, search service on Bing (Microsoft's search engine), among others.
The popular free email service Hotmail and the former MSN Messenger were launched still using the MSN branding. However, in 2005, Microsoft launched the Windows Live brand to communicate its software and services online.
Since its launch, MSN.com has undergone major changes. In October 2012, Microsoft released a new version of MSN exclusively for users of Windows 8 Operating System and Internet Explorer 10 browser. It's an optimized version for
tablets and touch screens, and designed to use all the technical features that Windows 8 offers. In 2010, MSN.com reached the 5th place among the most accessed websites in the world.
