DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is an acronym used in computer medium which means Dynamic Network Address Configuration Protocol. Through DHCP it is possible to make an automatic and dynamic configuration of computers that are connected to a TCP/IP network.
DHCP uses a client-server model, and the DHCP server manages centrally (central server) the IP addresses that are used in the network. The DHCP client is a network device that has the ability to acquire TCP/IP settings from a DHCP server. This client tries to find one or more DHCP servers that offer the desired defaults so that your computer can be automatically configured. The packet sent by the DHCP server contains IP address, mask, gateway and DNS server specifications.
Thanks to DHCP, the devices on the network receive the configurations from the central server, so that the user does not need to configure the addresses manually. DHCP is a protocol that is recommended because it helps and makes the management of large IP networks, and makes life easier for users who move around a lot with their computers portable.
