This region represents 3% of the planet's oceans, and there is no great variety of life, as there are no conditions. favorable to the proliferation of living beings due to the lack of food and also due to the low temperature. It is precisely in this part of the oceans that the abyssal trenches are found, even deeper points.

The limited amount of living beings that inhabit this region of the oceans is called abyssal beings, which have special abilities adapted to the characteristics of the environment in question. One of the main examples of abyssal beings are fish of the order lophiiformes.
