However, there is much more than just that. At least, this is the conclusion of research carried out by scientists from the University of Madrid and the Andalusian School of Public Health, both institutions in Spain.
Researchers from Spain discover secrets to reaching 100 years old
According to researchers, those who live longer have something in common: positive habits and thoughts. They interviewed 19 people aged between 100 and 107.
From the interviews, they came up with eight psychological strengths that are related to both physical and mental health. According to scientists, they could be the key to longevity and the 100-year milestone.
Habits that can help you become a centenarian
Vitality
This point, according to the research, is more linked to the feeling of “feeling alive” and also wanting to be alive and continue living.
Sociability
The second point is to continue having social relationships. In other words, meeting up with friends and family, going out to do group activities and chatting with neighbors.
Commitment
Apparently, even after reaching a certain age we cannot miss our commitments. Jokes aside, scientists discovered that it is important to maintain a bond with some type of commitment, such as classes or weekly lunches with the family.
Responsibility
Furthermore, it is very important that people take responsibility for their own lives. In other words, they still make their own decisions and have control over what they do or don't do.
