In an interview with G1, the delivery man confirmed the information and gave more details about what happened.

“I work in delivery here, I was passing by a school when I saw a fight on the sidewalk. I thought, at first, that it was a normal fight between a man and a woman. Later I found out that she was a teacher at the school. They were fighting and pulling a little girl,” said Caio Benício.

Continuing his speech, Caio reported that he did not think twice about acting to defend the child, delivering a sharp helmet blow to the attacker.

“Then I slowed down to see what was happening when the guy managed to grab the little girl and pulled out a knife. I stopped the motorcycle and saw him stabbing the little girl in the chest. I didn't have time to think. I went up, took off my helmet, even to protect myself, and hit him in the head with the helmet and he fell”, said the unlikely hero.

Later, Irish authorities confirmed the full nature of the attack, which targeted the school where the victims were. In total, five people were injured by the man Caio knocked down, three children and two adults.

Not all heroes wear capes

After preventing a greater evil, Caio Benício learned of the real seriousness of the attack on the school in Dublin.

“I thought it was just the girl, but then I saw that he had stabbed two children inside the school and the teacher. But I think the girl is in a more serious condition,” he said.

When describing the feeling of witnessing the horror that was happening, the delivery man expressed the feelings of many people.

“At the time you don’t have much time to think. People ask and say it is an act of bravery, of courage. But when you see a man with a knife and a very small girl, you don't have time to think. Act on instinct. I acted on instinct. I threw the motorcycle on the ground and went up”, he pointed out.

Carioca and father of two children, Caio says that he remained at the scene supporting the child, the teacher and other people who were there until the police arrived.

As far as we know, the cowardly criminal who carried out the attack is of foreign origin. His health status was not disclosed at the time of writing this article.

Applause from the press and important personalities in Ireland

After the repercussions of the case, Caio Benício became a true hero for most Irish people. The Brazilian arrived in the Nordic country a year ago, in an attempt to improve his family's life.

In addition to receiving a shower of praise from the country's press, the brave Brazilian was even mentioned by Conor McGregor, an Irish UFC fighter.

“The worker is the true hero! Bravo our Brazilian brother in Ireland, working hard, earning a living and contributing to Irish society! And that! We love, appreciate and respect you very much! Thank you very much Caio Benício!”, said McGregor.
