The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) announced that it will carry out an investigation into the radiation emitted by models of iPhone 12 sold in Brazil.
This decision was taken in response to the suspension of cell phone sales in France by a local surveillance body.

The agency will also contact the French regulatory body for more details on the reasons for the suspension of sales and, based on this information, will trigger the necessary inspection procedures.
This demonstrates Anatel's commitment to ensuring compliance of electronic devices sold in Brazil with established safety and radiation regulations.
Radiation on iPhone 12
France's electronics regulatory agency conducted two tests on Apple's recently released iPhone 12 models in 2020 and identified that the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was above the permitted limit.
Anatel reported that it follows the same European standard for this metric — 2 W/kg (Watts per kilo). This means that, if the French information is correct, the device may be banned in Brazil.
SAR represents the rate of electromagnetic energy emitted by wireless communication devices, such as cell phones and tablets. It is absorbed by the biological tissue of our body, according to the Brazilian agency.
What does Apple say?
Apple questioned the French government's decision to suspend sales of the iPhone 12 in the country due to concerns about SAR being above the permitted limit.
The company argued that several international bodies have already certified the iPhone 12 as compatible with global radiation standards.
Furthermore, it also stated that it presented results from its own and third-party laboratories that prove the device complies with French rules.
