Careful! THESE 6 common foods are real POISONS for the body

With our busy lives, we often turn to processed foods to save time when preparing meals. In addition to their practicality, these products tend to have a pleasant taste and relatively low prices, which explains their popularity.

But not everything is rosy, as geriatrician and nutritionist Mariana Carvalho warns that certain foods can cause enormous harm to health. She lists six of these food “poisons” that we should keep out of our homes:

1. Frozen meals

Frozen meals suffer loss of nutrients due to the manufacturing process, which includes freezing, prolonged storage and heating before consumption.

Furthermore, many of them contain additives and preservatives that are harmful to the human body, as well as high sodium and saturated fat.

2. Chicken nuggets

Industrialized chicken nuggets are highly processed and often contain artificial ingredients, such as additives, dyes and preservatives. Excessive consumption of these components can be harmful to your health.

3. Ice cream

Although it is a popular dessert, ice cream is high in calories and often offers few essential nutrients. It is rich in saturated fats, which can increase cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. Additionally, some commercial ice creams also contain trans fats.

4. Margarine

It is quite common for margarines to contain trans fats due to the partial hydrogenation process used in their manufacture.

These fats are very bad for your health, as they increase LDL (bad) cholesterol and decrease HDL (good) cholesterol, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

5. Cake mix

Although they are convenient for preparing cakes at home, cake mixes can have negative impacts on health depending on the ingredients and frequency of consumption.

They often contain significant amounts of added sugar and saturated fats, such as hydrogenated vegetable oils, which are rich sources of the dreaded trans fats.

6. Biscuits and cookies

Biscuits are often consumed in large quantities, which can lead to excessive calorie consumption without necessary nutrients.

Many of them are made with refined flours, which go through a process that removes essential nutrients, such as fiber, vitamins and minerals, resulting in foods with low nutritional value and which quickly raise sugar levels in the blood.

The geriatrician's message is clear: although these foods are convenient, it is essential to consume them in moderation and look for healthier alternatives for your daily life.

Try to prioritize fresh foods, rich in nutrients and avoid excessive consumption of processed products, as this will contribute to better long-term health and healthy aging.
