Composition of the Enem essay grade

The essay grade assessment is determined based on a set of five competencies. Competence 1 concerns the standard norm of the Portuguese language and is related to some factors.

Among them, stand out agreement, regency, accentuation, use of crasis and punctuation. At this point, the ability to demonstrate dexterity in the formal use of the Portuguese language in its written form will be assessed.

To achieve the maximum grade in competency 1, It is necessary to have the ability to build an excellent syntactic structure, allowing a maximum of two transgressions, that is, two deviations from grammatical norms or linguistic conventions.

Competency 2 is aligned with understanding and development of the topic. Therefore, the ability to understand and develop the dissertation-argumentative theme will be assessed.

Therefore, the participant is expected to follow the conventional structure of the essay genre, which involves the introduction of ideas, their development and conclusion throughout the paragraphs.

The third competency is text design and information development. To stand out in this aspect, it is crucial to give special focus to the development of each component presented. This means adopting a well-planned approach to constructing the text.

This aspect also includes carefully choosing information and presenting ideas in a cohesive way. Furthermore, it is extremely important that the candidate understands and connects the elements in a solid way to support their perspective.

In competency 4, the textual cohesion will be analyzed. Therefore, it is essential to acquire knowledge about the various forms of textual connection to demonstrate this skill. At this point, understanding and appropriate use of linking terms within the text is essential.

Finally, in the fifth and final competency, the candidate needs to present clear and coherent alternatives to combat the problem presented in the base text.
