6 AMAZING space missions that marked the world

The interest in space made humanity dedicate itself to researching and exploring the universe through missions and space probes. But people's relationship with space goes far beyond man's famous trip to the moon. Our history is surrounded by great space missions and you can check some of them here!

The objective of the mission is not always to send crew members aboard the spacecraft, some are done only by sending probes and other special equipment.

For example, the first images of the far side of the Moon were taken by the Luna 3 spacecraft. Likewise, Mars is being explored by more than one piece of equipment from the NASA which constantly sends data and images of the planet.

6 incredible space missions that marked the world

1. Venera 7 (1970)

The Venera 7 and Cosmo 359 spacecraft were launched towards the planet Venus by the Soviet Union. However, the Cosmo 359 mission failed to leave Earth's orbit.

Thus, only Venera 7 reached its destination and managed to send back revealing data from the planet's atmosphere for 23 minutes. According to NASA, this "was the first spacecraft to return data after landing on another planet."

2. Pioneer 10 (1972)

In 1972, the Pioneer 10 spacecraft was sent to planet jupiter. She was the first to enter interstellar space beyond Mars. This space mission represents advances in science regarding the scope of interplanetary exploration.

3. Luna 3 (1959)

As we said, the Luna 3 mission was the first to send back images of the far side of the Moon. Scientists in the Soviet Union had to edit the images to improve quality, but the 29 images showed the mountainous lunar terrain we know today.

4. Hubble Space Telescope (1990)

Another revolution with space equipment was the sending of the Hubble Telescope. He is responsible for recording detailed images of space. From their data, researchers are able to analyze the dimensions of the universe and the formation of galaxies to this day.

5. Rosetta (2004)

The Rosetta mission successfully landed the Philae probe on a comet. Sent by the European Space Agency (ESA), the probe's main mission was to bring data to new studies on the origin and composition of comets, increasing our knowledge of the system solar.

6. Viking Project (1975)

The Viking project launched the Viking 1 and Viking 2 spacecraft towards Mars. This mission recorded the first panoramic image of Mars, analyzed the soil and returned more than 1000 images of the surface of the planet.

Definitely, these missions are a small sample of how scientists have explored space over the years. Space exploration continues to challenge technology and inspire new researchers in search of interplanetary knowledge.
