Guava ketchup tasty and good for health
The ingredients in this recipe are rich in vitamins and minerals that favor the proper functioning of the organism, such as lycopene, which exerts an antioxidant action and is present both in tomatoes and in guava. Without further ado, let's go to the guava ketchup step by step:
Ingredients
- 1 can of peeled tomatoes
- ½ tablespoon demerara (or brown) sugar
- Extra virgin olive oil
- ½ onion cut into cubes
- 2 crushed garlic cloves
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- ¼ chopped chili pepper
- 100 g guava paste cut into small pieces
- ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce (you can use red wine too)
Method of preparation
- First, sauté the onion in olive oil along with the salt so that the onion releases water;
- Then add the garlic and cumin, then stir well until the bottom of the pan starts to turn golden;
- Later, add the peeled tomatoes, lower the heat and wait for it to cook a little;
- Soon after, put the Worcestershire sauce, the sugar, the vinegar, the pepper and, finally, the smudge guava paste;
- Once this is done, let it cook for approximately 10 minutes, mixing from time to time to help the guava melt;
- Finally, turn off the fire, transfer the contents to a blender or mixer and beat. Then pass through a sieve and, finally, you will have your ketchup ready for consumption.
How to vary the preparation of guava ketchup?
You can invest in some spices to make this ketchup even tastier. Therefore, foods like rosemary, oregano, smoked paprika, smoked salt and liquid smoke can be great options to add even more flavor to the preparation.
How to store guava ketchup?
Considering that this recipe is homemade and does not have industrialized preservatives in its composition, the time for consumption is shorter. So if you choose to store your ketchup, put it in a clean glass container and store it in the fridge. Finally, consume within three days.
