This after the woman suffered discrimination from three colleagues in the Biomedicine course. The reason? The university student, identified as Patrícia Linares, is 44 years old.

All situation occurred last Friday, March 10th. A video went viral on social networks showing three of Patrícia's colleagues making fun of the fact that she is 44 years old and is in.

“Guys, 40 years old can no longer go to college. I have this opinion”, said one of the university students who appears in the video.

The trio make fun of Patrícia's age and say that she should have retired by now, because she supposedly didn't know what the Google. After the regrettable episode, the students were accused of ageism, name given to prejudice and discrimination against older people.

The case moved social media. As a way to ease the situation and make the student happy, it was presented to her by students who were revolted by the trio's attitudes.

“What are these veterans? Giants! And me? So lucky to be surrounded by love,” Patrícia wrote on Instagram on Sunday, March 12, after receiving flowers and chocolates.

Also through publication on social networks, Unisagrado stated that it does not condone “any type of discrimination”.

“Opportunities are not the same for everyone at all times in life. We know, for example, that parents often give up their training to offer the best opportunities for their children and, only afterwards, do they choose to become professionals", said the university.

Ageism is prohibited by law

In Brazil, the distinction by age is prohibited by the Federal Constitution. This is because equal rights and opportunities are guaranteed for all people, regardless of age. However, the practice is still common in different spheres of society, such as the labor market, social relations and access to public services.
