What happened to Google randomly transferring that amount?

Sam Curry, known as the bounty hunter, is an American personal security engineer at cryptocurrency company Yuga Labs. The bounty hunter mistakenly received a dollar amount equivalent to approximately R$ 1.3 million. Not understanding what had happened, Sam tried to communicate with the company, but as he got no response he spoke on Twitter with the aim of signaling Google what had happened:

“It's been just over 3 weeks since Google randomly sent me $249,999 and I still haven't heard anything on the support ticket. Is there a way for us to contact @Google? (it's ok if you don't want it back…),” tweeted the engineer.

Cury even works looking for bugs in large companies – among them, including Google – and earning rewards for it. However, the bounty hunter was unable to make a connection between his work and the amount received, as it was much higher than what was charged. Therefore, the engineer kept the money and tried to contact the company to understand what had happened and then return the money received.

Google spoke through a spokesperson stating that the payment was made accidentally. “Our team recently made a payment to the wrong party as a result of human error. We appreciate that this was quickly communicated to us by the affected partner and we are working to fix it.”
