The company where he runs Tinder has sued Google. In a complaint filed on May 8, through the Federal Court of California, Match Group informs that the technological institution violated federal and state antitrust laws, given the guidelines imposed by Play store.
The process comes due to a policy that Google is planning to implement for the year 2022. It is worth remembering that, in 2020, the company made its position clear regarding purchases made through the application, requiring of Android developers to charge payments that contain digital goods and services, through the Play platform store.

In addition, the company's planning was to carry out the new policy in September 2021, which did not occur, requiring the extension to June of this year. On the other hand, the company Match informed that Google had previously deliberated the use of payment methods belonging to it.
Dispute
Match also alleged that Google had threatened to exclude the company's applications from the Play Store platform in case of non-compliance with the policy until June 1⁰ of this year. According to them, the search engine initially rejected updates to applications that still had their own payment system, such as relationship services.
The search engine reported that Tinder is considered a platform on which it is able to pay the 15% referring to purchases made in the application itself, since it is one of the cheapest among the others. For Google, this campaign is of common interest within the Match Group, in order to avoid a payment in which it is not related to the built mobile platforms.
Finally, the process currently takes place amid a conflict between Google and Apple changing their policies in the app store belonging to both companies. In February of this year, the Digital Markets Act obtained a breakthrough by the American Judiciary Committee, preventing third-party developers from blocking payment systems.
However, this decision will only be approved if it becomes law. The company Google accuses Tinder of reusing the investments made instead of becoming an aggregator partner, still calling it “cynical”.
