Another suspect in the murder of Mega Sena winner is arrested

He was arrested by the police last Sunday, the 18th, another person suspected of having participated in the death of Jonas Lucas Alves Dias, a 55-year-old resident of Hortolândia. The person recently arrested is a trans woman named Rebeca, who was identified by the police also by her registered name, which is Samuel Messias Pereira Batista. She is 24 years old. The arrest took place in the city of Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, in the interior of São Paulo. Approximately 22 km away from Hortolândia, where the victim lived. Two more suspects are still at large.

Rebeca is also being investigated because an account in her name was used for money transfers, according to a note released by the Secretariat of Public Security. The woman was located and detained by the Municipal Guard of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, but soon after she was sent to the Specialized Division of Criminal Investigations (DEIC) of Piracicaba, where investigations of the case.

The four people suspected of the crime are from the city of Santa Bárbara, according to police information. Those responsible located the suspects after receiving help from images that ended up recording the moment Lucas had been approached for the first time. Three more cameras were also identified at the bank branch where one of the suspects in the crime tried to make withdrawals using the prize winner's card.

The victim was found with signs of beatings last Wednesday, the 14th, just one day after being reported missing. It was located on the Bandeirantes highway loop, close to Jardim São Pedro, still in Hortolândia. The site is about 115 km from the capital of São Paulo. The man was even taken to a hospital, but ended up not resisting the injuries and passed away.

Jonas was the winner of the prize of almost R$ 50 million from Mega-Sena on the 5th of September of the year 2020. According to information from the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo, this case was registered as extortion followed by death.
