The discount refers to the accumulated consumption in the period from September to December 2021 and will be applied to the account for the month of January 2022. In this sense, the program aims to ease the energy bill, which became more expensive due to the drought in the reservoirs of the country's main hydroelectric plants.
Who will receive the discount on the electricity bill?
Consumers in the industrial, residential, rural, commerce, services and public service sectors received the benefit. In addition, households participating in the Electricity Social Tariff will also receive it.
How will the discount be made?
The discount will be applied automatically. Therefore, those who reached at least 10% reduction in electricity consumption between September and December of last year will already have the discount. As for the value, it will be a reduction of 50 cents for each kilowatt-hour of the total saved.
However, there is an upper limit to the bonus, which is 20% in relation to the energy reduction. Thus, there is an estimate that the total discount for consumers will be around R$ 2.4 billion.
What to do in case of doubts about the discount?
The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) is committed to helping consumers reduce energy consumption. Therefore, it created a page with the aim of solving possible doubts about the granting of discounts.
In addition, the Ministry of Mines and Energy made available the Energy Conscious Consumer Booklet, in which there are some tips to reduce energy expenditure on a daily basis, as well as information about the electrical system in the Brazil.
