Ingredients and method of preparing fig jam in syrup
Ingredients:
- 800 grams of figs;
- 500 ml of water;
- 2 tea cups of sugar.
- If you prefer, add spices such as vanilla, star anise, bay leaf, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and several others.
Method of preparation:
First take the figs, wash them under running water and remove the stalks. Then, with the help of a sponge, remove all the hairs from the fruit to make it smooth.
Make cross-shaped cuts halfway through all the figs to allow the sugar to soak into the fruit. Place in a deep pan with water to cook for approximately 10 minutes.
After this period, turn off the heat and drain the water from the pan. Then, add the 2 cups of sugar over the figs, cover with water and put the lid on. Let cook for 1 hour. When the fruits are soft, with little water in the pan and look like syrup, turn off the heat.
Finally, let it cool and consume it the next day so that the fruit incorporates the sugar flavor even more. Remember to keep the fig jam in syrup in the fridge.
