With approval, the program should subsidize the price of cooking gas for low-income families that are registered with CadÚnico.
The law comes at a troubled time when cooking gas, as well as other basic items, is experiencing a huge rise in prices.
In addition, the program comes at a time when President Jair Bolsonaro is trying to approve Auxílio Brasil, presenting a more social facet of his government.
In fact, the government intends to use the same structure as the Auxílio Brasil to make payments related to the Auxílio Gás.
Therefore, the implementation of the social program will also be carried out with Caixa Econômica Federal.
So, see how Gas Aid will work!
Criteria for receiving gas aid
As mentioned in the Law, Auxílio Gás will require registration in CadÚnico, a registry used by the government to map vulnerable families.
Therefore, if you do not have a CadÚnico registration and intend to apply for gas assistance, you must go to the nearest CRAS with the required documentation.
Each family will receive the equivalent of 50% of the average national price for a 13-kilogram cylinder. Payment will be made every two months.
There will be a discussion on the average value by the Price Survey System (SLP) of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels.
Therefore, every six months this value will be reviewed, as guaranteed in the Law sanctioned by the president.
Now, see what are the preference and priority criteria for receiving Gas Aid.
See who has preference to receive Gas Aid
As it is a program to repair social inequality, the Gas Aid comes with preference criteria so that more vulnerable families are prioritized.
See what they are:
- Families with women victims of domestic violence who are under monitoring of urgent protective measures;
- Payment preference for women responsible for the family.
In addition, any family registered in CadÚnico and that has a monthly per capita family income equal to half a minimum wage can receive the aid.
Families that contain a resident who receives the Benefit of Continued Benefit (BPC) are also entitled.
