How did this race come about?
The Fox Paulistinha is also known as the Brazilian Terrier, and its history is a bit complex when compared to the history of other breeds.
Many claim that the origin of the Fox Paulistinha is Brazilian, and came from a combination between the Jack Russel Terrier and Fox Terrier breeds that were transported on ships during the colonization period. However, the objective was not to create a new race, but to exterminate the rats that were inside the ships.
Other people claim that the breed emerged in Europe, when Brazilian university students went to study and ended up bringing terrier dogs. Upon arriving in Brazil, these dogs would have crossed with Pinscher and Chihuahua originating the Fox Paulistinha.
Main features of Fox Paulistinha
This breed is found in dogs with medium structure, but it prevails in small dogs. The triangle shape on the head is present in all cases, as well as a long tail, darker eyes and smaller ears. The fur pattern is short and smooth, with a predominance of white, and the colors black and in red tones are like spots on the body.
In addition, females reach 38 centimeters and males can reach up to 40 centimeters in structure. Because they are smaller pets, they are not heavy and weigh a maximum of 10 kilos.
They have a square body and a strong and resistant muscular structure, which differentiates them from dogs of the same height. And because they have these characteristics, they love to do physical activities and to consume energy, high intensity or lasting exercises are needed. Yeah, they can also learn commands and tricks easily, because they are very smart.
So, even though they are known to be calm dogs, dogs of this breed are very agitated. So, they are usually very attached to the owner and with strangers they can be suspicious, being in a constant state of alert.
How to care for your Fox Paulistinha
As previously mentioned, they are very physically active dogs, so they need to be physically active every day. Finally, due to hyperactivity, it is important to resort to training to avoid behavioral problems.
