One of the most attractive features of streaming services such as Netflix is the high cost-effectiveness. As a rule, you pay an affordable amount for a very extensive service. Many people left traditional cable TV aside to join the platforms.

However, series and movie lovers have already begun to feel a greater weight in their pockets. The Netflix service has become more expensive. The new monthly fees reach R$ 55.90.
Since 2019, Netflix tuition has not been readjusted. On the other hand, authorial productions and authorized reproductions increased in volume and quality. This is the company's justification for explaining the reason for the tariff increase.
In a note, Netflix says that “we will continue to offer the best content, between movies and series, in addition to a wide variety of genres […]. We offer several plans, starting at R$25.90 per month, so that people can choose a price that suits their needs”.
Despite the R$ 55.90 portion frightening subscribers, it will be the most expensive within the services. The basic plan will continue with a more affordable value, being the one with the lowest readjustment of all. The percentage increases vary between 18.2% and 21.7%.
Check out the price list announced by Netflix recently:
– Basic Plan: BRL 25.90 (the previous price was BRL 21.90). The increase suffered was 18.2%;
– Standard Plan: BRL 39.90 (the previous price was BRL 32.90). The increase suffered was 21.2%;
– Premium Plan: BRL 55.90 (the previous price was BRL 45.90). The increase suffered was 21.7%.
Initially, the readjusted amounts were charged to new subscribers. According to Netflix, those who already have a subscription will still pay the old prices. The new installment will come only in September.
For old users, an e-mail will be sent announcing the tariff readjustment. The notice is being issued gradually. Therefore, customers can still redo the accounts and decide whether it is worth keeping the service or not.
It is worth noting that Netflix is still the largest subscription streaming service in the country. Brazilians have a special taste for the productions and products offered on the platform.
How high should Netflix price go?
Despite still remaining at the top of the competition, other platforms have been growing. Both the pricing and the Netflix service itself could get stale. It is worth noting that sports channels and others already partner with other companies, such as Disney and Amazon, for example.
Netflix has already said it plans to spend more than $17 billion on content in 2021. That's because the numbers for the first half were not as good as expected. The expectation is that the return of content will be a strong catalyst in the second half.
If, on the one hand, the company aims to profit more, on the other hand, there is competition that can put a brake on prices. Therefore, at this time, there is no forecast for high subscriptions. Of course, several issues can impact this field. The way is to stay in the crowd.
