The new RG will contain data from the Identity Card and CPF, making this document unique, without different numbers if copies are made in different states. As a result, citizens will be able to rely on much more security in relation to their information, avoiding scams and fraud. However, there are still some doubts related to how and even when to request the new ID model.

What is different about the new RG from the old one?
More than integrating information from the main identification documents, the new RG is much more modern and secure. In addition, the factor that most attracts citizens is electronic validation. Now, it is possible to take the digital version of the RG to any corner, with just a few taps on the smartphone.
To do this, just validate through a unique and non-transferable QR Code for each person, which can be used both offline and online. With this digital reading, citizens will have access to various other information, such as blood type, voter registration and even whether the individual is an organ donor or not.
However, it is important to understand that the new Identity Card will not replace other documents at the time of identification, such as the CNH. Soon, everyone else will still be indispensable. The idea of the new ID model is to establish all Brazilian data in a single record.
Until when to issue the new RG?
First of all, every citizen registered with the biometrics in the Electoral Court or in other identification bodies will be able to request the new RG. To do this, just go to any service and identification unit, such as the SSP, and fill out a form where some data will be informed, such as CPF and date of birth.
However, there is no official deadline for the entire Brazilian territory, since the new model is still very new, in force since March. In addition, many states need to go through the adaptation process, which runs until March 6, 2023.
