Apple's new initiative
The repair service covers the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE 2022 cell phone models. This novelty is curious and goes against what is expected of a company that makes money selling cell phones, as it encourages repairs before exchanges. In the United States, the initiative is so successful that the company's idea is to take the program to Europe later this year.
To repair the devices, a standard kit with a manual and tools necessary for repair is sold. Each kit costs around US$49, a cost converted to around R$245. Also, if you need more parts, customer can purchase separately to fix problems.
All these tools, repair kits and over 200 other parts can be found in the online self-service store.
The purpose of self-service
In addition to purchasing a separate kit, it is also planned to create a free plan that provides parts, kits and manuals, with the condition that, over time, they are all returned to the company.
With this, it is expected that the number of people assisted by the self service will grow considerably over time. In addition, the company plans to move forward with kits for Macs.
It is worth remembering that this type of service is not for everyone, as it requires some basic knowledge about electronics. Thus, most customers are still advised to seek specialist care.
