How much will 5G internet cost in Brazil?
At first, the plans that will make the 5G signal available must cost at least R$ 250 per month, that is, a higher value than the plans currently available for 4G technology. Also, if you prefer postpaid plans, you should be aware that there will be some usage restrictions.
The expectation is that operators Claro and Vivo, which won an auction held in 2021 to define who would be responsible for providing the technology in the country, follow international prices until the service grows massively and becomes cheaper and more accessible in the country.
Initially, operators expect at least 500 million hits over the first three years. In the meantime, the idea is to make customers who use 4G migrate to 5G DSS, a service that basically uses 4G frequencies in order to reach speeds close to 5G.
Thus, with the alternative of 5G DSS, prices will be maintained until the original “pure” version of the new technology, called standalone, arrives in the country in July 2023, according to the forecast of carriers.
At first, industry and agribusiness should be the biggest consumers of the new technology. With it, these sectors of the economy will be able to automate their activities, as well as improve their logistics and transport services.
How much will operators invest in 5G technology?
The operators Vivo, Tim and Claro estimate that the investment in the new technology will be around R$ 150 billion. This amount should be used in the construction of its 5G networks over the next eight years.
Anyway, it remains to wait until next year for the launch of 5G in Brazil. It is important to follow what the plans will be, as well as the amounts to acquire the new technology that will certainly revolutionize connections around the world.
