Easter leads consumers to spend an average of R$ 215 on chocolates

A survey carried out by CNDL and SPC Brasil showed that 109.2 million people will go shopping this Easter, and the average that each person is willing to spend on chocolates is R$ 215.33. Most people will buy eggs and bars to give to their children, as the survey showed.

Thus, 54% of respondents responded that the eggs and chocolate bars were for children. Another 42% said they would gift their spouses. The others would buy chocolates for their mother (38%), for their nephews (33%) and for themselves (26%).

Compared to last year, 47% of people responded that they would buy the same amount of products as in 2021. Already 37% said they would increase the quantity and 10% intend to reduce the purchase of products.

According to José César da Costa, president of CNDL, the expectation is that the date warms up retail, even with the economy gradually recovering. He still says it's time for the sector to invest in promotions that attract customers who are still in doubt about their purchases.

Among the products, the most purchased this Easter should be industrialized chocolate eggs, which 57% of respondents said they would buy. Next are: bonbons and chocolate boxes, which totaled 47%; handmade eggs, which were cited by 39% of respondents; and homemade bonbons and chocolate bars, mentioned by 33%.

There are those who prefer to give chocolate bars and/or bonbons (63%) instead of Easter eggs. Some, because they believe that the shape of the chocolate does not matter, but the celebration, and others because the price of these is lower.

Costa also warns of the importance of price research during this date, as values ​​vary greatly from one establishment to another. It is interesting to expand this research also to the internet and make a plan so as not to lose out.
