At the job market, women earn less, as they have a lower salary percentage and are the majority in the leadership of the household. The research was published by the survey belonging to the Inter-union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese), with based on the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PnadC), carried out by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistic). Furthermore, the most recent data indicates that they may yield less in some cases.

With income compared to men, the monthly average of women was estimated to be 21% lower in the last three months of 2022. In the areas of health and education, women occupy 75% of vacancies and have an average income 32% lower than men. Women receive less even in these majority cases.
“Gender inequality in the labor market reproduces and reaffirms this existing imbalance in all spheres of society, in the form of machismo. From the roles assigned to men and women, black men and women, inequalities and power relations are designed, whether economic, sexual or political”, stated the Dieese survey.
Women earn less, but are primarily responsible for family
Women are in the majority in some sectors of the market, occupy 91% of domestic work vacancies and receive 20% less than men.
In these services, with incomplete primary education, the woman receives R$ 819 in 12 months of the year; with complete primary education, the salary rises to R$ 972 and reaches R$ 1,087 with complete secondary education.
In the areas of health, education and other services, in a period of one year, the woman with incomplete primary education earns R$ 1,333, reaching R$ 4,063 with complete higher education.
In these same areas and during the same period of work, the man earns R$ 1,928 with incomplete elementary school and reaches the highest salary with complete higher education, earning R$ 6,331.
Despite the difference, as pointed out by research carried out by Dieese, women are the majority in family responsibility. About 38.1 million families, a percentage of 50.8%, have women as leaders.
Families managed by a man reach 49.2%, with a total of 36.9 million.
“The indicators showed what is experienced in practice: a contingent of women who earn less is included in in a precarious way and takes more time in search of placement in the labor market”, pointed out the survey by Dieese.
