The federal government and the Ministry of Education released on Thursday (27), the salary change that basic education teachers will receive. According to the ordinance signed by President Bolsonaro, the new floor value will be R$ 3,845.63.
According to information from the Ministry of Education, the increase was possible thanks to Constitutional Amendment 108 of 2020, which allowed updating Law 11,738 of 2008, which deals with the Wage Floor.

The MEC said in a press release that a technical and legal study was carried out for this change to be carried out. The minister took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of the new floor.
“I thank President Jair Bolsonaro for his sensitivity in understanding the importance of defining this new floor. Be sure that 2022 will be the year of education and teachers will be valued protagonists”, said minister Milton Ribeiro.
The 33.24% increase benefits 1.7 million basic education teachers. According to the MEC, this is the biggest readjustment since 2008. “More than 1.7 million teachers, from states and municipalities, who teach more than 38 million students in public schools will benefit,” said President Jair Bolsonaro.
The National Front of Mayors saw the readjustment with concern. According to the note issued by the entity, “mayors and mayors are committed to valuing teaching and defend that teachers deserve a dignified salary adjustment, as well as professionals in the area of health, safety and all other categories that make up the civil service public. However, it is necessary to govern combining social sensitivity and fiscal responsibility. Local finances, unfortunately, do not support exceptional readjustments in the scenario of uncertainties that Brazil faces.”
