Most likely, everyone has had an experience like this: bought something from Shein or Shopee and, before the package arrived at your home, the package was in Curitiba for days.
The complaint is frequent throughout the country – even by people who live in the capital of Paraná. But have you ever wondered why this happens?

Mystery revealed: find out what happens to your purchases in Curitiba
Correios published a video explaining what so much happens in Curitiba with our international parcels. The first reason for this stop is that, as it is something imported, it needs to go through an inspection by the Federal Revenue Service. But that's not all.
According to Mail, international products can arrive at three different Distribution Centers: Curitiba, São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. The destination will depend on the package category.
In one of them, the order undergoes an X-ray inspection to check for any irregularities or to identify illegal goods. If there is something wrong or suspicious, the object passes to the authorities, such as the Federal Police, Army, Anvisa and others.
If there is any discrepancy, the packages are forwarded to customs and may be taxed or returned to the country of origin. Oh, and if the authorities believe there is something seriously wrong with the order, they can open it for further analysis.
In some cases, in this process, Correios also try to resolve some details with the recipient's address or with the packaging of the package. Only after that, your order goes to the local distribution centers.
Why does this process take so long?
First, because the steps can take time, especially if we take into account the volume of imports made by Brazilian consumers. In addition, customs inspection can also take time to complete.
Furthermore, as most shopping sites offer free shipping, they almost always use the cheapest delivery method known as Standard. It has a deadline of up to 12 working days for the main capitals of the country – but only after all the inspection described above.
