Passengers' reports
Many passengers questioned the travel company's decision not to postpone their departure, considering the adverse weather conditions.
Bill Hassler, one of the passengers, expressed his surprise to be alive after the frightening experience. “Why would they sail into this storm with winds of over 128 km/h? What were they thinking?” Bill asked in an interview with CNN.
William B. Blackburn, accompanied by his family, described the moments experienced as "terrifying", while they remained in their cabin cherishing for security.
Carnival Cruise Line issued a statement about the incidents but did not directly respond to passengers' concerns.
The company mentioned that the Carnival Sunshine's return to Charleston was affected by weather and rough waters, resulting in delays in arriving and boarding the next voyage. Despite the challenges faced, the company reported that the ship is now sailing on a new voyage.
The Carnival Sunshine, which has a capacity of 3,002 passengers and 1,040 crew, continues to offer its cruise experiences, but surely passengers will have this stormy adventure etched in their memories for a good time.
