Manufacturers looking to release new smartphones are now paying more attention to safety claims about device radiation emissions, seeking to respect this limit.

Blue Angel (German certification) limits emissions to no more than 0.60 watts per kilogram (W/kg) to account for equipment safety in the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). Therefore, to avoid adverse health effects, this emission should not exceed 2W/kg.

Is cell phone radiation harmful?

Our cell phones emit radio frequency waves in the electromagnetic spectrum. While 2G to 4G transmit radio frequencies in the range of 0.7 to 2.7 GHz, 5G capable cell phones can transmit up to 80 GHz.

Due to their low frequency, these are non-ionizing frequencies. Therefore, their low energy is not enough to change the DNA, and it does not become a risk of developing cancer, only if they were ionizing.

Our body absorbs energy from equipment that emits radiofrequency radiation. Its only effect is to warm up the body part next to the phone. However, this warm-up is too weak to significantly increase core body temperature. So far, there is no evidence that radiofrequency can harm people.

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) suggests some things you can do to limit your exposure to cell phone radiation. Therefore, they recommend that you use cell phones for shorter periods.
