What is BPC?
In terms of understanding, this benefit is offered to children and adolescents with disabilities. In addition, it also covers others under the same conditions, regardless of age. In addition, elderly people aged 65 or over who are in a situation of social vulnerability are entitled to request the aid.
As for individuals with disabilities, those who have some kind of long-term mental, physical, intellectual and sensorial impairment can receive it. Therefore, those who have difficulty participating actively and fully in society, on an equal basis with others, can request help.
Who can receive the benefit?
The rules for requesting participation in the program are:
- Have an income equal to or less than 1/4 of the minimum wage per person in a family group;
- The person receiving the benefit must undergo a medical and social assessment at the National Institute of Social Security (INSS);
- BPC recipients, as well as their families, must be registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico).
Only by following these conditions can people with disabilities and seniors over 65 have access to help.
How to apply for BPC?
To apply for inclusion in the program, the individual must apply for the BPC through the INSS service channels or by calling 135. With a landline, the call is free.
Another way to register is by accessing the website or downloading the Meu INSS mobile application. In addition, there is also the possibility of making the request in person, at a Social Security Agency (APS).
