The University of São Paulo (USP) is one of the main higher education institutions in Brazil and Latin America. Founded in 1934, USP is a public and free university, maintained by the government of the state of São Paulo.

It is a research-intensive university offering a wide range of undergraduate degrees, post-graduation and university extension in several areas of knowledge, such as exact, human, social, biological and health. The institution has several teaching and research units, distributed on several campuses in the city of São Paulo and in other cities in the state.

The State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is one of the leading universities in Brazil, founded in 1966. It offers philosophy courses in several areas of knowledge, such as exact, human, social, biological and health sciences.

UNICAMP is responsible for a large part of Brazil's scientific production and is home to several renowned research centers, such as the Research and Development in Telecommunications (CPqD), the Center for Research in Chemistry and Materials (CPQMA) and the Renato Archer Information Technology Center (CTI).
