Judicial decisions

In one of the processes, the Regional Labor Court (TRT) of Rio Grande do Sul forced the payment of compensation. Uber was ordered to pay BRL 1 million after acknowledging the existence of an employment relationship between the parties. The judges of the 8th Class of TRT4 were unanimous in the decision.

In another case, the Ceará TRT stipulated compensation of BRL 676,000 for moral and material damages. The victim would be the mother of a driver murdered during a race made by the app.

Despite this, most lawsuits end up favoring big tech to the detriment of drivers. However, as more decisions like the ones above occur, new understandings take precedent. In other words, new jurisprudence is created and may favor more drivers.
