Research claims that the acetic acid present in vinegar, when added to stains that are mainly caused by mineral deposits, helps in the breakdown of stains. The resulting reaction produces a salt and carbon dioxide.
In addition, vinegar has antimicrobial properties. Although most microorganisms can survive in an acidic environment, the vast majority of common bacteria cannot.
Example of cleaning using vinegar
You know that surface that is in urgent need of cleaning? A great trick is to sprinkle some baking soda along with the vinegar and let the mixture act until it forms a foam.
The reaction therefore produces water and carbon dioxide bubbles that interact to help physically break down the dirt.
Can electronics be cleaned with vinegar?
According to experts, vinegar is not recommended for cleaning electronic products, as it is an acidic liquid and can corrode metal parts.
However, examples such as the outside of laptops and other types of computers that are turned off can be safely cleaned. Just rub with a microfiber cloth sprayed with a mixture of distilled water and vinegar.
Does vinegar eliminate odors?
The mild acetic acid in vinegar is able to react easily with alkaline odorous substances (bases), such as ammonia, responsible for the strong smell of concentrated urine, and trimethylamine, common in the odor of fish.
As a solution, liquid vinegar can be applied directly to the affected surfaces. In the case of fish odor, for example, the strong smell can be neutralized by applying vinegar.
