Who can receive the discounts?
In general, any student who has contracted the FIES can receive a discount. This discount can be either on total charges, such as interest and fines, or on the total amount of the debt. This will depend on how long the default exists and also on the student's financial situation.
Thus, students who were already in the debt settlement phase on December 30, 2021 can benefit, as long as they have 90-day delays in installments. In this case, the discount can reach a maximum of 99% of the total debt amount. Even students who do not have delays, but who wish to reduce the amount of the installment, can seek the service. In this situation, the Government offers a 12% discount if payment is made in cash.
Rules for receiving discounts
As published in the Official Gazette of the Union, students must seek the means to reduce their debt between September 1st and December 31st, 2022. In addition, the following rules are established:
- Students without delay can receive discounts of up to 12% in cash payment;
