Ford: robots already operate machines alone

Since the Industrial Revolution, we have seen that there is a difference when the service is automated, which can reduce costs and increase productivity. In this way, many tools have emerged that can help streamline various processes and increase efficiency in various sectors on a daily basis.

With regard to work, for example, the use of programs and technological tools makes it possible to reduce costs and increase income. So, here's how technology at work can help drive change in your business.

In view of this, the American automaker Ford is improving a system that allows machines to interact with each other, creating a completely autonomous assembly line. This system has been operated without humans with a custom component manufacturing system, in a small volume, such as parts for the Shelby GT500, an exclusive version of the Mustang, one of the brand's main models on the market American.

The idea of this type of production is linked to the creation of an interface in which machines of different types talk to each other. That is, in short, this interface allows a robot to connect to a 3D printer and instruct the necessary commands to manufacture a component.

This communication path has been used to connect a 3D Carbon printer with KUKA Javier robots, common on the assembly line. Importantly, the system delivers precision-manufactured parts continuously throughout the day, with only one interval required to recharge.

Ford also highlights another factor that strengthens the project, which is the fact that the robot in charge of controlling the printer is capable of learning by itself. With the autonomous behavior of the machines, human participation in the process is limited to the work of uploading of the designs of the parts to be produced for the internal memory of the printer, as well as performing the maintenance of the equipment.
