Have you ever stopped to think about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) increasingly present in our lives? This is a relatively new subject in our routine, but some science fiction films have already been focusing on the subject for many years.
Most of these plots revolve around some problems and issues that can be brought to reflection today. The scripts talk, above all, about the possibility of an AI or some device (such as a humanoid robot) creating a “consciousness of its own” or starting to have “feelings”.

8 films that talk about the future of Artificial Intelligence
Ex Machina (2014)
With a mixture of suspense and science-fiction, “Ex-Machina” follows a guest programmer taking the Turing Test on a humanoid robot with a powerful Artificial Intelligence. The experiment will define whether the device has intelligent behavior equal to or equivalent to that of a human being. However, he realizes that the situation was not quite as he expected and the film has a surprising ending.
Child's Play (2019)
In this reimagining of the classic horror film, Chucky is not a puppet possessed by the soul of a murderer; it is an AI-enabled toy, created to help with daily tasks and intelligently control the house. One "Alexa luxury, perhaps. However, a bad function in the code causes the toy to go out of its limits.
M3GAN (2022)
The story is similar to that of the new "Assassin's Toy". An engineer creates a realistic doll, programmed to protect and care for her niece at all costs. However, she takes this command a little too seriously and goes on a rampage.
The Bicentennial Man (1999)
The film, inspired by a short story by Isaac Asimov, follows a delicate robot initially created to help with the household chores of a family. However, he begins to develop feelings and dreams of being recognized as "human".
She (2013)
“She” has something of “Blind Wedding” – do not laugh; it is serious. A very lonely writer starts talking to an AI system similar to Siri on iPhones. As they talk, they fall in love. The film talks a lot about the true nature of human relationships, but also about passion, loneliness and intimacy.
AI: Artificial Intelligence (2001)
This masterpiece by Steven Spielberg shows the very distant future. This year, robots are human companions – and extremely similar to us. The plot accompanies a child robot and its search for humanity.
Wall-E (2008)
This one you have certainly already watched. And it must also be strange that he appears on this list, since he talks more about the evils of humans than AI. However, it shows that technology, when properly programmed, can restore life and our very humanity.
Matrix (1999)
Have you ever thought if our whole reality is just a simulation and the machines are controlling us? This is the central discussion of “The Matrix”, a landmark of the movie theater worldwide, launched in 1999, whose discussions and reflections reverberate until today.
