An Apple spokesman said it would review the French court's ruling, adding that it believes in "vibrant and competitive markets where innovation can flourish."

“Through the App Store, we help French developers of all sizes share their passion and creativity with users around the world, creating a safe and reliable place for customers”, highlighted the company.

Furthermore, the fine was the only sanction imposed on Apple, as a new law, called the Law of

Digital Markets (Digital Markets Act), will be implemented in the future. This legislation will bring changes in relation to those practices considered abusive, such as the one committed by Apple, according to the Paris Court.

Digital Markets Law

This new law aims to increase competition between new technology companies against the already established Big Techs, providing greater choice for consumers. In this way, the market becomes broader and fairer for everyone, from a small start-up to an already consolidated giant.

The Digital Markets Law brings a list of what can and cannot be done, which must be complied with by companies. For example, larger platforms are prohibited from listing their own products or services more favorably than those of third parties. O Google was accused of this practice with its digital shopping engine, Google Shopping.

Not only this measure, but several others will be adopted by digital companies, thus making the environment more competitive and fair for all competitors.
