How were the twins separated?
This is not a story of villainous scientists who separate a pair of siblings while they are still young. However, it is still a very sad story. According to the magazine, although twins raised apart are rare, these two Korean girls were separated at the age of two in 1976 after one of them got lost in a supermarket. The family struggled to find the lost child, who ended up in foster care and adopted by American parents.
After 42 years, in 2018, the sisters met again and underwent some scientific research, especially intelligence, health and personality comparison tests. Soon, some notable differences in IQ between them were discovered, with a 16-point difference in the scores for each.
The search results
Through the results, it was possible to contradict some researches that say that identical twins usually don't have more than 7 points of difference in IQ. However, it is still not possible to confirm with 100% certainty whether it was the creation in different countries that caused such a high gap in the tests.
According to the study, it was possible to notice that the one who was adopted had a much more disruptive education than her sister. That's because the woman who was raised in South Korea described a more loving home environment, while the twin with American parents faced some problems in domestic life, such as the divorce of country.
Still, it was possible to notice many similarities in several other aspects, especially when it comes to personality. Mental health, self-esteem and medical history were surprisingly similar, surprising even experts.
